Biography
Brian EM King is Professor and Head of the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism at Texas A&M University, USA. He was previously Professor and Associate Dean in the School of Hotel & Tourism at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2012–2021). His qualifications include MA & MSc degrees from Aberdeen and Strathclyde Universities (Scotland, UK) and a PhD from Monash University, Australia. He was Professor of Tourism at Victoria University in Australia from 1998–2012 where he also served as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community).

His research and teaching interests are cultural aspects of tourism, hospitality leadership and marketing to emerging Asian markets. He has published books as author or editor on tourism marketing and development, VFR travel, hospitality leadership, resorts and Asia-Pacific tourism. He is Founding and Current Editor-in-Chief of Tourism, Culture & Communication. He has consulted on human resource development and marketing for international tourism agencies. His industry experience includes manager and/or director roles in airlines, tour operations, destination management, cruise operations and hotels. He is a fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism and of other scholarly networks.
