Biography
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism Management at South China University of Technology. I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in Tourism Management from Sun Yat-sen University. My academic training included an enriching year as a Joint-Ph.D. student at the University of Manchester’s Department of Sociology, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council. Prior to my current appointment, I held academic positions at both Sun Yat-sen University and South China Normal University. My research program is centered on sustainable tourism development, with a specific focus on ecotourism and wildlife tourism. Employing social theory perspectives, I investigate the complex relationships between humans and nature/wildlife in tourism contexts. My work is empirically grounded in studies of elephant tourism, primate tourism, and protected area management. Beyond my academic pursuits, I am an avid nature enthusiast and enjoy birdwatching and hiking.
