Biography

Prof. Li previously worked at University of Nottingham, the University of Surrey and Leeds Beckett University in the UK. She has served as an associate editor of two leading tourism journals (SSCI Q1 ABS4 and ABS3), Annals of Tourism Research (2018 – present) and Journal of Sustainable Tourism (2021 – 2024). She edits a rolling curated collection – ‘Neuroscience in Tourism’ for Annals of Tourism Research. She has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the British Academy, the UK Economics and Social Research Council. The findings from her national project evaluating the impact of the UK events industry were submitted to the British House of Lords and were used by former British Prime-Minister’s pledge to support the sector. She received a Quantitative Skills Acquisition Award from the British Academy. Her research interests include: neuroscience and tourism research, tourism economics, business and cultural events studies.
